Fighting proposals to increase toll charges at the Dartford Crossing

The latest proposals from the government suggest that the tolls at Dartford Crossing should be increased by 50% for cars, or 50p each way, with the aim that more drivers will use Dart Tags instead of cash to travel via the tunnel or bridge.
The government thinks the plan will speed up traffic and reduce congestion at the tolls and on the M25.
We think this idea's simply unworkable. Drivers will spend more time scrabbling for change and traffic will grind to a halt even more often than usual, causing greater pollution than is currently the case and having an even more serious impact on the health of local residents.
I have started a campaign against the government's proposals and urge local residents and motorists to offer their support. You can do so by signing up to my petition by clicking here.
