| A new approach to policing in north Kent |

| My main election issues in 2005 was crime and anti-social behaviour. We are now five years on and policing has improved. In small part due to my hard campaigning for more police officers and tougher policing in Gravesham. Kent’s Chief Constable, Mike Fuller, gave us a few more police. We need more. Many of those that we have have made great efforts to improve things locally.
We were given two excellent police chiefs who were appointed shortly after my election: Gary Beautridge and Chris Hogben.
They had a successful couple of years and then they were moved on and promoted. We now have Chief Superintendent Paul Brandon with whom I have regular meetings, though it seems that he too is now to be promoted.
Things haven’t changed as much as I would have liked. Crime and anti-social behaviour is still your number one issue and I continue to campaign to get our police officers out from behind their desks, handling less paperwork and bureaucracy and on the beat catching criminals.
I want to know if you have difficulty getting through to the police or do not get the response you would have liked. |
