| Unintelligible quangocracy speak
13.11.08
You have been kind enough to tolerate me as your MP for over three years now . In that time I have met many lovely people in local government, the NHS, schools and others employed by the state . But sometimes I don ’t understand what they are saying.
Do you find it irritating ev ery time you hear a term such as "place-shaping", "transformation" or "stakeholder engagement"? It is almost a different language, which confuses rather than enlightens - almost a sort of code that keeps outsiders out. The worst offenders are employees of quangos – that is the “quasi, autonomous, non-governmental organisations” - bureaucrats that have the ultimate say on our planning, regional assemblies, the EU, food regulators, the environment, and the list goes on. There is also quite a bit of this in the NHS.
