| Fair Trade at Emmanuel Baptist Church
12.02.09
I cannot believe it is a year ago since I last visited the Fair Trade lunch stop at the Emmanuel Baptist Church on Windmill Street.
So I will give them another plug for their 2009 Fair Trade lunches. Do go along, the food is freshly prepared, with delicious cakes and hot and cold sandwiches, all very reasonably priced and you will be supporting a good cause.
Fair Trade is catching on in the UK with most people being aware of the tea and coffee products. But there are quite a few others such as rice and chocolate that go to supporting the third world food producers, rather than the multi national companies taking all the profit. I bought rather a bag made by former prostitutes in the Philippines out of old apple juice containers - you might imagine that this looks awful, but apparently it is very chic.
Dates for Fair Trade lunches are: 5th June, 17th July, 25th September, 30th October and 11th December. The sandwiches are better than M&S or Pret-a-Manger.
