| Kent Air Ambulance tribute
09.10.08
Occasionally, I like to pay tribute to the charities and organisations that make Kent a safer place and one of those is The Kent Air Ambulance Trust.
The Kent Air Ambulance Trust was established as a registered charity in 1989 and delivers a team of highly-skilled doctors and paramedics to the scene of an accident in the fraction of the time it takes a land crew.
It was the second air ambulance to be set up in the country and is now one of 18.
The helicopter flies at speeds of around 150mph and can reach any part of Kent within 15 minutes which is amazing.
It costs £1.5m a year to keep the helicopter in the skies 365 days a year. The Trust receives no funding from the Government, NHS or the Lottery, instead relying on donations from individuals, clubs and businesses.
The Air Ambulance has flown more than 12,000 missions and is given a helping hand from more than 150 volunteers.
